The 40D is going to be serviced today. There is way too much dust on the sensor, it’s clearly visible in the pictures. I sent it to the German Canon dealer Martin Achatzi. I ordered various lenses from him in the past; his customer service is so incredibly great, it makes me feel like I’m back in the States…
Update: I had the camera back in my hands in almost 48 hours! And the invoice was even less than 25 Euros, including shipping (in both directions)!
Oh boy. Yet another addition to my photography circus. Man, this lens is incredibly awesome: welcome the Canon f/2.8 70–200 L IS USM. ![]()
Next on the list (after putting some more money on the side): A car. A used one. 2+2 seater. Make your guesses. ![]()
Just. So. Impressive.

No, I did not win the German lottery, but I found a very good deal that I couldn’t resist.
I got the Canon 24–105 f/4 L IS USM lens from my favorite German Canon shop (Martin Achatzi). That means I’m not only upgrading the Canon EOS body but also the lens… I don’t intend on going to a full-frame Canon DSLR but If I wanted to I’d be prepared now. ![]()
I think I stimulated the German economy good enough for this year. If anyone sees me within the next 12 months anywhere near a camera store with that special sparkle in my eyes please make sure to stop me. ![]()
I am pretty sure that Fred will find some time to play with my old Canon 17–85 lens before I plan to sell it.
